General Jakob, the German Inspec-tor-General of Fortifications, has inspected the defences in the occupied countries on the Atlantic coast and said he was completely satisfied. The Vichy correspondent of the British United Press says that all leave for police and high officials lias been cancelled and holidaymakers have been recalled. Railway traffic has been delayed at several points in Belgium by troop trains, which are given preference. Another Paris policeman was killed and two were wounded while attempting to disperse a crowd of people listening to a portable wireless set .at the central markets, says the Daily Mail’s” Madrid correspondent. me men who fired the shots were not caught. The Germans have appointed "uards to stop sabotage, and they hold them responsible if sabotage occurs.

The Russian Information Bureau declares that Dutch patriots in the past two months have destroyed 40 goods trains and set fire to five German planes, a German supply depot, blew up a torpedo and ammunition store at Haarlem, and also three ammunition trucks. Another Moscow message rcpoits that the Gestapo in Latvia last year annihilated more than 80,000 persons and imprisoned 25,000.
