POTASH PRODUCTION
Australian State Venture (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.), (Special Australian Correspondent.) SYDNEY, August 2. Instead of relying on imports, Australia is to undertake the production of potash as a Government venture. Regulations have been issued to confer on the Government of Western Australia power to engage in the production of potash from alunite deposits at Lake Campion. To begin with the rate of production will -be 5000 tons a year, but it is expected that this source will eventually supply most of Australia’s potash requirements. AH sales of fertilizers in excess of 71b. a month are now subject to control by the State Departments of Agriculture.
