Eight Enemy Planes Shot Down
LONDON, July 30. Eight, raiders were destroyed over England last night.
[Raiders over the Midlands showered incendiary and high-explosive bombs oil residential property. Three hospitals were damaged, the patients being evacuated while the bombs were falling. There were some casualties iji the raided area.
Berlin radio says that the Luftwaffe last night attacked armaments works in tlie vicinity of London and also ballbearing works near Luton and motor works at .Lincoln.
I Incendiiiry bombs which were dropped |in the London area early this morning were contained in a new type of mietal case, specimens of which [experts al-e examining. ! For the second time this week guns beat the sirens in announcing the presence of raiders over London. Only a few planes, Hying singly, Hew over the capital.
A heavy bomb destroyed a number of houses in the Birmingham area, burying occupants, including a woman and her four children, all under 19. The husband, an ex-soldier, was putting out an incendiary bomb 80 yards away when the bomb fell. Another bomb demolished houses, killing four persons and burying others.
