Pilot Officer Ibbotson One of the New Zealanders reported missing during an aircraft flight over a sea route is Pilot Officer Clive Gaby Ibbotson, AVellington, who was acting as navigator.! Pilot Officer Ibbotson, the son of Mrs.- Doris A. Ibbotson, of 6 Heaton Terrace, Brooklyn (a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gaby, Tasman Road, Otaki) is 10J years old. He received his education at Maunu School, AA liangarei, St Mark’s School, AVellington, and AAellington College. At St Mark’s School he was dux (equal) in IJ3o. At AA elhiigtou College he won the Sir Alexander Grey Cup for character and deportment, a cun for boxing and a medal for swimming. He played Rugby football aud was in the college's first cricket eleven, lie was also interested in first aid, winning at an early age the Grand Priors badge of the Order of St. John ot Jerusalem. After leaving AVellington College he attended Victoria College, while a member of the inspector’s branch ot the Union Bank, of Australia. His cider brother, Maxwell Ibbotson, is at present in a New Zealand military training camp.

Pilot Officer Ibbotson joined the R.N.Z.A.F. in Mai-cli. 1941. After under-L-oin" training in New Zealand he was sent to Canada, completing his course at Prince Albert and Rivers, at which latter place he graduated at the top of his class of 1100 trainees, from all parts of the Empire. In April of this year he was one of the crew of a bomber which flew across the Pacific from San Francisco to Brisbane in 395 hours. Following that experience he was given 10 days leave of absence to visit his relatives m New Zealand. after which he resumed duty at an overseas station.
