BRITISH SOMALILAND
Duke Of Gloucester’s Visit (British Official Wireless.) (Received. July 30, 10 p.m.) RUGBY, July 29. The Duke of Gloucester paid an official visit to British Somaliland on Monday, states a Nairobi message, for the purpose of carrying out an inspection of units in the protectorate. This is his second visit, the other being when ho returned from the coronation of the Emperor, Haile Selassie. Tlie outstanding feature of the programme, all of which was staged at ilargosa, where tlie Duke arrived by air from Aden, was a parade of tlie Somaliland Camel Corps In modern style. Instead of having camels, tlie famous corps was represented by mechanized troops.
Another interesting event was an inspection of the casualty clearing station provided two years ago by the Belgian Congo as a contribution to the East African war effort.
