NEW ZEALAND’S LOSS
Tribute To General Mead CANBERRA. July 29. Mr. Peter I’niser today expressed deep regret at the news that Major-General Mead, of the New Zealand Army, was reported missing us a result of the nonarrival at its destiuiition of an aeroplane in which he was .journeying oversea. Mr. Fraser said that General Mead was a very capable officer and his death meant a great loss to New Zealand. Mr. Fraser remarked that be had been speaking to General Mead's sister, who lives in Sydney, last weekend, when he praised the work General Mead was doing tor New Zealand.
