LONDON, July 29. It is announce! that over 6,000,000 tons of German and Italian shipping have been captured, sunk or damaged since the war began. This does not include the loss inflicted by the Russians, which is estimated at about 750,000 tons, nor does it cover the 44 German and Italian ships, totalling 260,000 tons, lying in Central and South American ports and useless to the enemy. The Japanese losses are also not Included.
It is pointed out in London that though the new total shows a decrease In the rate of enemy tosses in the past six months, ther.- has also been a considerable decrease in the number of enemy ships sailing. In addition, it is difficult to assess the number of ships that have been sunk by our mines.
