SUGGESTED APPEAL TO WOOLGROWERS
“I believe that if the Government appealed to woolgrowers to use as much ns they could afford of the increase in (he price for wool in the purchase of Government bonds a good response would be made as a voluntary contribution to the Government’s war effort, and I would suggest it may not yet be too late to make the appeal,” said the president of the New Zealand Sheepowners’ Federation. Mr. 11. D. Acland (Christchurch), nt the annual meeting of the federation in Wellington yesterday. “It would not be equitable, however,” he added, “to compel those growers who are paying, say, 5 per cent, on overdraft to buy 3 per cent, bonds, which probably would sell (in case of the money being needed) at a discount.”
