' Vice-Regal. Government House. Wellington, July 29. His Excellency the Governor-General presided at a meeting of the Executive Council this morning. This evening his Excellency, attended by Captain 11. G. Helmore, was present at the reception held by the Wellington branch of the Overseas League. Ministerial. Tiie Hon. F. Jones, Minister of Defence, left Wellington yesterday by air for Dunedin to represent tiie Government at the funeral of Sir James Allen. Mr. A. O. Glasse, chief engineer of tiie Auckland Electric Power Board, is visiting Wellington. Colonel F. L. G. West, Northern Regional Commissioner, arrived at Wellington from Auckland yesterday. Mr. W. V. Dyer, chairman of the Wellington Education Board, left yesterday to visit schools in the board’s district. Mr. E. Loader lias been elected unopposed as mayor of Taibaix*. following tho resignation through ill health of Mr. L. B. H. de Latour. Mr, S. A. Ogilvie, l/ower Hutt, has been appointed Second Deputy Director-General of the Post and Telegraph Department. Mr. Ogilvie joined the department in Tiniaru and has been attached to the staff of the G.P.0., Wellington, since 1020.
