ADDINGTON (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 29. At tlie Addington market entries were heavier in most sections. Fat cattle dropped most of last week’s sharp advance. 1 at sheen were 2/- a head cheaper, and store ewes were also easier. . The store s-ieep entry totalled 2175. Of these , lolS were ewes. Tlie class of sheep-all through was uniformly good, but the bidding not as keen as iit the last sale, and apparently there were too many forward for the limited number of buyers present. Too price was 34/6 for two-tootli Corriedaie ewes. Other pens of the same' age uiade 31)/-. and 31/9. Of the older sheep offered a fair number came from southern districts, and showed the effect of travelling. Top price was 39/- for four, six, and eight-tooth ewes. Other good pens sold from 25/6 to 27/3, medium and inferior lots from 17/J to 21/3. There were only 583 hoggets. Top price was 29/3 for Romney ewes. A pen of 250 halfbred ewes made 25/6 to 21/bt Highest price for wether hoggets was 22/b. A pen of two-tooth wethers sold at 25/9. The fat sheep yarding totalled over .niOO, and, though the market opened at about last week's prices, the demand weakened as the sale progressed. Though one truckload of 34 Romney cross averaged 51/6, prices for wethers on the whole were down by about 1/6 to 2/- a head. Uwes also showed a general decline of 2/6 a head. One special lot of 60 made from 33/10 to 36/7, but these were exceptionally good sheep and stood out from the remainder ot the yarding. . . The fat cattle entry was 000, against 426 last week. The quality was again High. The market was somewhat erratic early put improved later, but on the whole values were down by 20/- to 25/- for heavyweight prime cattle, and to 20/- for other classes. One draft from the West Const averaged £l9/16/9, top price being £2l/17/6. A line of 14 heifers averaged £l5. Best beef ranged from 40/- to 42/6 per 1001 b.; good, 37/- to 39/6; medium, 34/- to 36/6; ordinary, to 33/6; with inferior cows to 31/-. Fat pigs: Tlie porker entry was smaller tlian last week. The sale opened easier, but Improved and continued at last week s rates; average price per lb., SJd. to Old. Choppers were again in heavy supply, biu values showed little change. The bacon yarding was smaller and the sale again excellent, prices being firm on last week's figures, the average per ib. being 7d. to Bd. WANGANUI WANGANUI, July 21'. Freeman It. Jackson and Co., report that a short entry of fat sheep realized a keen sale with an advance on last week. Oddments of store sheep sold at late rates. Fat cattle were a shade easier over a heavy entry. Store cattle were also rather dull ot sale. It was a particularly cold and wet day. there .being only a fimall attendance. In the dairy section there was a heavy entry and it was only a fair sale, any backward and aged cows selling at low figures.
