MONDAY’S BOXING
The Wellington Boxing Association has matched young Jim Griffin and Billy Brown to head the bill at the tournament to be hold in the Town Ball on Monday night next/ Both these lightweights are now in the Army, and should take the ring lighting fit. Gridin made a showing against Tommy Hanson in Wellington a few weeks back, and did so well that iiiaiiv considered he was unlucky to lose the decision. Brown hails from Invercargill. where he did well as an amateur before joining the paid ranks. Since turning professional, be has had a creditable career, and that he is boxing as well as ever he did was proved by his victor' over Ernie Underwood in Auckland a feu weeks back, when he took Clarric ' J ° r " don’s place at short notice. The match should provide a pleasing display oi scientific boxing. . The high class of the amateur preliminaries has been a feature of Wellington tournaments this season, and an attract no series will precede the professional match on Monday.
