JAIL FOR DESERTERS
Sentence has been promulgated in the following cases of desertion by soldiers of the 2nd N.Z.E.F.: — Private Robert Lancaster lairweather was sentenced to six months’ jail with hard labour, lle’was absent without leave from December 21, 1941, till June 29, 1942, when he was arrested in Wellington. . Gunner William Frederick King, found guilty of desertion on active service, was sentenced to six months’ jail with hard labour. After being warned t<> proceed for service overseas he absented himself without leave for more than two months. He was arrested in Christchurch wearing civilian clothes.
