HAWERA, July 28. T’liout’li bleak weal her prevailed, quite a lot of Interesting work was performed on the tracks at Hawera this morning. The course proper was available for lasc work, the trestles being out 30ft. and the going holding. The work of horses to race as three-year-olds was ■watched With interest. Several of them promise to perform to some purpose this coming season, and this’ morning advantage was taken of the opportunit.v to give them fast work. XV aj* Effort, Peter’s Choice, Lady Pippin and Clarice all performed satisfactorily. Corday (Potroz) was supposed io have galloped four furlongs, but was not sot going til] reaching the three furlongs, running home from there in 42A. his last furlong being the fastist. Bunsbv (Holland) sprinted three furlongs in 43, finish ing strongly. Given his first run along. Batliedress, after pacing a round, came homo from the three furlongs in 42 3-5 very comfortably. He' is coining to hand in a very pleasing manner. Gay Thoio (Graham» sprinted two furlongs In 25 3-5.
