HIGH OFFICERS DIE

NEW DELHI, July 26. It is announced that a transport plane crashed on a hillside during the monsoon, killing Captain H. Lammers, chief American liaison officer in Ceylon, two bndsh brigadiers, a Royal Air Force group captain, and seven R.A.F. personnel. An air communique from Row Dulin states: “Royal Air Force bombers attacked the enemy base at Kalewa, on tau Chindwin River on Thursday. The weather conditions prevented observation of results. On Friday other targets on tlie Chindwin River were bombed and machinegunned. All our aircraft returned safely.”
