Allen, 0.8f1d., whose’ death in action was announced yesterday, was an officer of the Aew Zealand Staff Corps and for a period was attached to Array Headquarters, lor some time after the start of the war ha was area officer at Hamilton. He commanded the Divisional Signals overseas and wan then appointed to command the Central Infantry Training Depot. Early this year he was commanding officer of the 21st New Zealand Battalion, in succession to Lieutenant-Colonel J. JI. Alloa, also killed in action. He received , th* OBE. for service in Greece .and Crete. His wife lives at Karori, Wellington.
