OIL DELIVERY

No Financial Gain To Companies In the report published yesterday of an interview with the secretary of the Wellington Manufacturers’ Association, the suggestion was made that the oil companies had used the Minister’s appeal for tlie conservation of rubber and petrol as an excuse to obtain in effect a higher price by discontinuing delivery of packed products. Further investigation show’s that this suggestion was unfounded, as any saving on delivery is indirectly handed cn to the buyer by the price control machinery. The oil companies’ transport fleets and staff have been heavily taxed during the war period by the demands ot the fighting services.
