ROYAL EMPIRE SHOW

To Be Held At Sydney

Sydney, October IS.—Recognizing the importance of directing all possible attention on the war effort, the Royal Agrieul-

tural Society’ of New South Wales, has decided to designate the Sydney Show, to be held from April 7 to April !•.>, the "Royal Empire Show.” The president, Sir Samuel Hordern, said-that features and attractions now being organized would be well tn keeping with the change of name, and the spirit of the times. This did not imply that the 1941 show was to be varied in such a way’ as to cause the displacement of any of the established features and competitive flections. The show would retain the popular features of its predecessors. Apart from file emphasis to the war effort, the Royal Empire Show would commemorate the 50th anniversary of the society’s' incorporation under its Royal Charter. The more important spectacles of, the 1941 show are being reserved for patriotic demonstrations. Probably the most impressive of these will be au Empire pageant, to be conducted each night session. More than 5000 people will take part in the pageant, which will include representative units of the Navy, armies in the field, and the Royal Australian Air Force, as well as voluntary war workers, youth and educational organizations.
