About Chair Legs...
TJAVE you ever noticed that the back legs of a chair are never straight, but always slant backward a little? There is a reason in this —as in everything. If the back legs were straight they would not support the chair securely. In fact, if anyone sat down on a chair with straight back legs they would soon find themselves on the floor —for the chair would lose no time in toppling over backward! Therefore the back legs are made to slant out backward, and thus the balance is preserved. How many times during the day do you sit on a chair? And yet you have never observed this simple thing!
