Protest Against New Regulations

The following resolution was adopted at the annual conference of the Locomotive Engineers, Firemen, aud Cleaners’ Association: — “That this conference of the New Zealand Locomotive Engineers, Firemen, and Cleaners’ Association place on record its members’ strong disapproval of the recent amendment to the Public■ Safety Emergency Regulations. It is the considered opinion of this association that the Government already had on its .Statute Book ample power to deal promptly with any acts prejudicial to New Zealand's war effort. and that the recent amendment is the very antithesis of democracy. "That the Prime Minister and the National Executive of ' the Labour Party be notified of the members' uneasiness that such a threat to trade unions should be introduced by a Labour Government.”
