Late News SERIOUS DAMAGE TO COVENTRY
German Air Attack CASUALTIES MAY BE A THOUSAND LONDON, November 1.5. The Ministry of Home Security reveals that the Midlands town which received the full brunt of the German air attack last night was Coventry. The Ministry’s reports state that the raid was on a scale comparable with the largest night air raid on London. Anti-aircraft guns kept the raiders so high that (hey could not aim at military objectives but the city of Coventry suffered very seriously. Preliminary reports indicate that casualties may number a thousand. The attack was begun with the scattering of incendiary bombs and many fires broke out. Explosive bombs were then dropped indiscriminately. Many buildings were destroyed including the cathedral.
