BRITISH WARNING TO SPAIN
Tangier Must Not Be Fortified LONDON. November 13. As u result of the recent occupation of the international zone at Tangier by Spanish troops, the British Ambassador in Madrid lias been instructed to make it clear to the Spanish Government that action will be taken to ensure that Tangier remains unfortified. It is officially stated that, no previous information was given to the British Consul-General at Tangier of the intended Spanish action. The Foreign Under-Secretary. -Mr. Butler, in the House of Commons, revealed that Britain had lodged a protest recently against Spain for her assumption of control over the international zone of 'rangier. lie said the Government ■ had emphasized io Spain the great importance attaching to tlie maintenauee of the neutrality of Tangier.
