ROYAL AIR FORCE

Call For Men AIRCREW SECTION Vacancies exist in the aircrew section of tlie Royal Air Force for airman pilots, air observers and air gunners. Full particulars and conditions of service may be obtained at. the Railway Social Room, Waterloo Quay, Wellington, today, between 9 a m. and 5 p.m. Enlistment in the Air Force is voluntary, and from the outbreak of war there has never been atty lack of young men anxious to join the Air Force. There is still a reserve of men who have volunteered; but. it: is being more rapidly absorbed by the increasing rate of expansion, outlined by the Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones, last week: 5700 men now in training, more than 1000 serving in Britain; 10,000 men to be in training next year, and 4500 pilots and aircraftmen to go overseas, either to Britain or to Canada. A number of men who had earlier volunteered for the Air Force and were awaiting acceptance were included in the last ballot, and that may occur again. The position of such men was explained recently lA the Director of National Service, Mr. J. S. Hunter. They are to notify the Air Secretary, Wellington, and also their Area Officers, of the detailed facts, which will be at once investigated and the applicant will be advised of the action to be taken in reporting for medical examination.
