National Party’s Aims Stated
Dominion Special Service. WAIPUKURAU, November 14. "The National Party si a nds for the greatest liberty to the individual provided he does not infringe the rights of others,” said Mr. Broadfoot, M.P., contrasting National and Labour principles in an address in Tikokina in support of Mr. C. G. E. Harker’s candidature in the Waipawa by-election. “We believe in private enterprise and the profit motive; New Zealand was built on this, but State Socialism is wrecking us today. We stand for freedom of speech, of the Press, of Assembly, and, in short, the State. Most emphatically the people must own the State ami the State not own the people.” About, 70 people were present at the meeting. Mr. Harker addressed electors in Wanstead and Wallingford yesterday and at Pukeora Sanatorium this afternoon. Tonight Mr. P,roadfoot spoke again in Waipawa. and Mr. Holland, M.P.', spoke in Waipukurau. Both meetings were well attended. The speakers attacked many angles of Government policy and appealed to the electors to give expression to any doubts they might have about the present Administration by voting National on Saturday. Mr. Harker appeared at both meetings.
