Action Supported By Railwaymen
Support was accorded the employees of the IV. L). and 11. O. Wills tobacco factory in Petone in their dispute at a mass meeting of employees of the Woburn Railway Workshops, Hutt, yesterday. The following motions were carried :— “This meeting of workers express their deep admiration of t lie stand taken by the workers of W. D. ami 11. 0. Wills against the victimization of one of tlieir fellow-employees. We fully appreciate that they arc defending one of Hie vital principles of trade unionism, and that their lirinimss in the face of pressure from the aullmrities is an outstanding example of trade union solidarity. We pledge our wholehearted ami moral support ami under take to organize financial support. •'That tins meeting registers its strong disapproval of the action taken in this dispute by the Federation of Labour and the Minister of Labour. Mr. Webb. It. appears a complete contradiction of the attitude we workers expect from .a Labour M.l’." A meeting of the members of the Wellington Tobacco I-'aclor.v Employees' Union coiieerimd was held yesterday. when the men were adilressed by representatives of Ike Federal ion of Labour.
