SPORTS GROUND FOR MIRAMAR
Construction At Motor Camp The AA’ellington City Council decided last night to apply to the Government to subsidize the work of forming a sports ground at the motor camp. Miramar. Asked ‘by Cr. AV. J. Gaudin whether the ground would be available for children. Cr. AV. Duncan, chairman of the reserves committee, which brought the matter before the council, said it would be open to children during the week, and would be used for football on Saturdays. Cr. AL Fraser opposed the proposal. He said it would cut across the city engineer’s plan for development of the motor camp, and would be taking something away from the camp. Cr. Duncan said the ground could be used for football in winter, and for the motor camp in summer. Cr. L. McKenzie said the development of the motor camp was very ini portant to AVellington, specially when the city was full, as had been shown a t the time of the exhibition. The mayor said that when the ground had been formed, it could he decided to whom it should be allotted.
