SUICIDE WITH AXE
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, November 12. “It is a curious thing. I’ve never before heard of a man committing suicide with an axe,” said the coroner, Mr. Hunt, at an inquest today on John. Burton Witten, aged 62. farmer, of Glen Eden. The deceased was .fount! with a deep wound iu the right side of his neck in a paddock on September 2.1 and died in hospital two days later. Evidence showed that Mr. \\ itteu was of frail physique and for some time, been worrying about his financial affairs. Medical evidence was that the wound was consistent with having been self-inflicted. A verdiet of suicide was returned.
