Extension Of Work To Australia SISTERS OF COMPASSION (Some live months ago the reverend mother, who is head of the Order of the Sisters of Compassion, founded by the late Rev. Mother Mary Joseph Aubert, visited Australia in response to it warm invitation from the Roman Catholic Bishops of Wilcitnnia-Eorbes and Brisbane. These members of the Australian heirarchy, who visited Wellington at the time of the last Eucharistic Congress, were so impressed with Hie work being done in New Zealand by this Order that they desired Io see an extension of it to the Commonw ea It it. The reverend mother visited Sydney. .Melbourne. Broken Hill ami Brisbane, ami after several consultations decided that the Order might, be able to make a start, in a small way at the end of the year, and Broken Hill was decided on as the place within the diocese of the Bishop of Wilcannia-Eorbes, where the Sisters of Compassion would make their entry into Australia as a working body, seeking only to help I lie poor and afflicted, as they have dime so wonderfully lit New Zealand. All wi re willing to obey orders, but two had io be chosen. That would mean that, a beginning with the work could only be made 'in fl humble way, but they hoped that. God’s blessing would rest upon the venture, and. that, they would be able to do His will in the great country on the other side of the Tasman.
