LATE NEWS CRIPPLING BLOW AT ITALIAN NAVY

Fleet Air Arm Success BATTLESHIP STRENGTH PROBABLY HALVED

LONDON, November 13. Aircraft of the Fleet Air Arm have struck a crippling blow at the Italian fleet in Taranto Harbour as a result ol which the Italian battleship strength has probably been halved. The attack was carried out on .Monday night and photographs since taken show one battleship of the X'ittorio X’eneto class ( Italy’s latest type of capital ship) lying with its forecastle awash. One battleship of the older Conte di Cavour class hail been beached and her stern as far as the after turret was under water.

It is not yet certain but probable that another battleship of this class has been seriously damaged. In the inner harbour two cruisers are lying with heavy lists and are surrounded by oil. In addition, two auxiliary vessels have been stink.

The Meet Air Arm lost only two machines. A British submarine has torpedoed and sunk one Italian supply ship and damaged and probably sunk another.
