CRISIS PREDICTED
Australian War Budget Proposals GOVERNMENT DEFEAT POSSIBLE (By Telegraph —Press Assb.—-Copyright.) SYDNEY, November 13. The daily Press in Sydney and Melbourne predicts a political crisis on the Federal Government’s War Budget proposals, which are to be submitted at Canberra next week. Certain Federal Ministers anticipate Government defeat and the possibility of another election within a few weeks. Labour co-operation lias already been lost because of tlie Government’s "deflationary methods” iu drafting the Budget. Government supporters argue that even if Mr. Menzies is defeated and Mr. Curtin commissioned to form a Ministry, a Labour Budget, would get no better reception. Labour made so many election pledges which cut across tlie Menzies Government’s Budget plans that the Government parties have no option but to oppose them bitterly. Well-informed circles think that. Mr. Menzies will take an uncompromising stand if Labour attacks the Budget and will place the onus of rejecting the Government’s financial proposals on the House, and, in the event of an election, will light it on an inflation issue.
