AMERICAN DEFENCE
Three Aspects Discussed
By Ministers
(Received November 13, 8.20 p.m.)
WASHINGTON. November 12.
Well-informed circles believe that the Secretary of State. Mr. Cordell Hull, and the War and Naval Secretaries, Mr. Stimson and Colonel Knox, held a conference and discussed, first, the nature of the material aid which could be granted to Britain in the immediate future; secondly, the possibility and consequences of materially strengthening the American armed forces in the Philippines; and, thirdly, speeding up of hemispheric defence, particularly regarding Mexico. It is believed that the President of Mexico. Senor Avila Camacho, is ready tc discuss the construction of naval bases in or near Mexico with financial assistance from the United States.
