HITLER A MILITARY OBJECTIVE

Commands Enemy Forces SIR A. SINCLAIR TELLS BOMBING POLICY (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received November 12, 8.10 p.m.) LONDON, November 11. The Air Secretary, Sir Archibald Sinclair, in an interview with the "Dail}’ Express,” said Britain would bomb Hitler and the Nazi commanders where possible. He added: “Hitler is a military objective. The intention of the R.A.F. is to hit the German armed forces and their sources of supply as hard as they can and go on hitting them. The commanders and staffs of those forces do not enjoy immunity from attack." Asked if Cabinet decided that Friday night, when Hitler was addressing Nazi veterans there, was the best night to attack Munich. Sir Archibald Sinclair said: “We are working carefully and scientifically on a plan for attacks on Germany. The Air Staff is responsible for carrying out the Government s bombing policy. , He added that it would seem strange to him if it were suggested that the commander-in-chief of hostile forces were immune from attack. _ . . . “There can be no parallel between the position of a constitutional sovereign, who is not responsible for policy, and that of a. dictator who is at the same time commander-in-chief of his country s armed forces.” Asked why Italy was not being bombed more heavily, he replied: "Italy is a long wav' to go, but now that the nights are longer we arc making the journey more frequently. Italy will continue increasingly to experience bombing raids. It would be a great mistake to think Italy will be let off lightly.”
