Securing Survival Of
Democracy
MANILA, November 11
The United States High Commissioner, Mr. F. B. Sayre, as !IS United States army and navy officials, attended the Armistice gathering, at which .Mr. Sayre described the war as Europe's struggle to determine whether democracy can survive. He said that the power and resources of the United States could turn the balance without I be United States entering the struggle. He warned that Hie United States could never again become isolationist. NOT PEACE AT ANY PRICE (Received November 12, 8.40 p.m.) WASHINGTON, November 11. The Secretary of the Navy, Colonel Knox, in an Armistice Day speech, said America was willing to keep out of war, but not at the price of cowar'dice and dishonour. America cannot be intimidated, and cannot be scared into a peace at any price attitude.”
