WESTERN DESERT
British Position Much Improved LONDON, November 11. The British forces in the Middle East have been steadily reinforced in men and equipment, and the position in the Western Desert has been greatly improved in the last few months. The armies are well trained in desert warfare. The training is said to be superior to that of the Italians, and if German troops come to reinforce tlie Italians it would take them some lime to become expert in desert warfare. The difficulties of the Italian Libyan force are likely to be increased now that Britain is able to use Crete as a naval base.
Gibraltar lias been juude even more powerful in tlie last few months. Militry experts in London consider that the Mediterranean and Middle East campaign will be an arduous and bard-fought struggle.
