Vice-Regal. Their Excellencies the GovernorGeneral and Lady Galway paid a farewell visit to Blenheim yesterday afternoon. Ministerial. The Hon. F. Jones, Minister of Defence, left Wellington yesterday for Waipawa. He will return to Wellington today. 1 Mr. T. R. Cresswcll, Wellington, left for Christchurch last night. Mr. G. Springhall. Wellington, travelled to Nelson by air yesterday and will return today. Mr. C. M. Bowden, Wellington, is visiting Auckland. He will return at the end of the week. Mr. G. L. Laurenson, Commissioner of Transport, left Wellington for Auckland by the Limited express last night.

Mr. W. A. Hislop, general manager of Universal Pictures, Pty., Ltd., Wellington, was a passenger by last night’s steamer for Lyttelton. Mr. H. C. Kent has been appointed assistant-general manager of the Traders’ Finance Corporation Ltd., Australia, ami the Australian Guarantee Corporation Ltd. and leaves New Zealand next monlh to reside permanently iu Australia. His resignation from the council of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce was received with regret at last night's council meeting. Mr. Kent is ai. present manager for New Zealand of the Alliance Finance Corporation Ltd. Mr, A. L. Wall was last night elected vice-president of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce in place of Mr. W. I. J. Blyth, who has resigned. The president, Mr. R. 11. Nlmmo, said at last night’s meeting of the chtunber’s council that when the annual election was held Mr. Wall and Mr. Blyth received equal votes for the vice-presi-dency ami he Ilion ghvc his casting vote for .Mr. Blyth because of his longer service. Therefore he considered Mr. Wall's appointment now a fitting one. He believed lie would fill the office creditably.
