The prevalence of car conversions was commented on by Mr. Stout, S.AL, in (he Magistrates’ Court, Wellington, yesterday, when sentencing Anthony Gray, motor driver, aged 19, to Borstal detention for two years. Gray admitted, when he appeared before the Court last Monday, that lie had unlawfully converted .a motor-ear valued at £4o.'

The magistrate said that the converting of motor-cars had to be stopped. “It is becoming* a serious menace in tli-e community, and I intend to deal with it very severely.’’ be added.

Before sentencing accused. the magistrate said the probation oliicerM report was not favourable.
