HURRICANE "SLAPS" AWAY MESSERSCHMITT'S TAIL: An aircraftman examining the broken wing of a British fighter whose pilot had run out of ammunition when he came to attack a German raider. The British pilot drew alongside the Messerschmitt so that its tail was level with his plane's wing. He then waggled his wings and slapped the Nazi s tail clean off. The Messerschmitt fell into the sea and the British plane made a pancake landing.
