Hallowe'en Party

In aeeurclauee with custom the AVellingtou Caledonian Society celebrated rhe festival of Hallowe’en recently. The hall Mas packed with young folk, who played the many games associated with the festival. A programme of exhibition dances was given by a number of women,, tins items comprising: Military dance, Alargaret Knight ; sailor’s hornpipe, Nola Hanson; czardas, Belly AVilliams; Irish jig. Phyllis Marsh; skipping donee, Audrey Young: double swords. Peggy McKinnon ami Edna AVhit.elaw. Aller simper the older folk danced, the accompaniments being played by Pipe-Alajor C. Balfour, and Pipers 1.. MacKinnon and E. Newman. Air. A. Burnette was M.C. Tuita Women’s Institute. Mrs. Hunter presided over a good attendance at the November meeting of the Tait.a AVomen's Institute. After welcoming members and visitors, Mrs. Hunter expressed regret at. the coming departure from the district of Airs. Dawson, a valued member of the institute. Airs. Dawsou was presented with beautiful floivers from the committee and a box of plants from the garden circle. Airs. AVilson, who was n delegate at the recent council meeting, presented an interesting and comprehensive report. Delegates were chosen to represent the institute at a meeting of the Lower Hutt R.S.A. to discuss ways of helping with the jubilee carnival. A very interesting 'letter from fl soldier in Egypt who had received one of the parcels sent by the institute was read. Two songs by the madrigal circle were enjoyed, after which afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Bonthorn and Foster. Aliss Maddever gave an interesting talk on her travels in the Middle East, particularly in Cairo and Aden. She was presented with a charming bouquet of flowers.
