While digging- on the site of an olii ■building long since burnt to the ground, Mr. J. Bayne, Koru, Taranaki, unearthed some old papers that had been burned in the fire but had retained their form and substance over a long period, it is understood that the building concerned was what was known as the Koru monastery and that it was burned down at. least 50 years ago. Some of the printing on the black, charred paper is still decipherable. It recorded various events in England and Spain last century.
