WRECKED IN BAHAMAS

Steamer Matakana

NEW YORK, May 8. 'The Shaw Savill steamer Matakana, of 8018 tons, was wrecked on the Planus Cays Islands, 16 miles east of Acklin Island. Bahamas, some days ago. The American steamer Panama picked up the entire crew of 82 men from open boats eleven hours later. 'The Matakana was built in 1921 for the New Zealand frozen meat trade She was commanded by Captain E. Dttvies.
