AMERICAN REPORTS

Tension But No Definite Military Moves WASHINGTON, May S. The Netherlands Ambassador, Dr. John Loudon, announced that he had spoken by radio telephone to Netherlands officials at The Hague, and had ascertained that reports _ that two German columns were moving, toward the Dutch border for an invasion were “absolutely incorrect.” It is understood that Dr. Loudon s appointment as paymaster for the Dutch officials abroad will be effective only if an emergency arises. The Secretary of State, Mr. Cordell Hull, said that diplomatic dispatches from the Netherlands indicated . a great degree of tension but no definite military moves. He added that in view of the second evacuation warning which United Slates diplomats had issued to American 'citizens in the Balkan and Danubian countries there will be no excuse for their becoming trapped in the area should the war suddenly strike there.
