Virginia Gilmore Ousts Dietrich

r pHE girl with the most perfect legs in A Hollywood today has been awarded the annual cup of the Physical Culture Foundation of Hollywood by Frank Muskie, Gene Tunney's one-tune Sparring partner. She is Virginia Gilmore, 21-year-old former San 1 rancisco shop-girl, who was “discovered” by Samuel Goldiwyn and brought to the film capital for grooming as a star four months ago. Her only film role to d'ate has been a small “bit” in “Raffles,” with David Niven and Olivia de HaviUand, which, however, made her eligible for the Physical Culture award. “Miss Gilmore has*the most perfect pair of legs to come to Holly wood since Marlene Dietrich’s legs were imported from abroad,” said Muskie. “Miss Dietrich rates fourth now on the Foundation's list. Miss Gilmore is first, with the best pair of legs; Ann Sheridan is second; Linda Darnell is third, w'hile Marlene Dietrich is fourth,” he went on. “Our choice is made from careful study of photographs showing the figure and legs of nil Hollywood personalities during the past year. Speaking for my associates

in the foundation, “I am particularly happy to award the cup this year to an American-born girl, since I have always felt that foreign legs are greatly overrated. Personally, I like American legs best."
