“SWITZERLAND”
Return Wellington Season To Begin Tomorrow “Switzerland,” J. O. Williainson’s spectacular ice show and ice ballet will begin a brief return Wellington season in the New Opera House tomorrow afternoon. The return season in Auckland has proved an unqualified success, and from advance bookings already made for the return Wellington season it would seem that “Switzerland” will prove even more popular here than in January and February. Since last in Wellington, Megan Taylor, champion ice skater of the world, has become more used to the comparatively small area of the “Switzerland” rink, and it is claimed, quite logically, that she now displays her talents to even better advantage. Phil Taylor’s trick skating, particularly his display on stilts, .makes him .a certain favourite with audiences, and Eddie Marconi, the compere of the. entire show, will return with fresh, original humour. Other artists whose memory will linger are Elsie Heathcote, who is the very epitome of grace in her solo dances and when she is Phil Taylor's partner in a dainty gavotte, the MacKinnon Sisters, who attain a high standard of excellence in “Grace” and “Batons,” Rita Bramley. Diana Grafton, and Ronald Priestley To single out individual girls from the ballet would be to defeat the spirit of the ballet, but sufficient is their rhythm and thei- beauty to make them, as a unit, oustanding. The precision, of the .ballet in the military number is admirable. Connie Graham and Hal Scott, and Tommy Russell and Ernie Marconi, who appear in the cabaret scene, will present items •different from those given before The cabaret scene is arranged to allow the skaters a rest.
