RICCARTON TRACKS
Dominion Special Service. CHRISTCHURCH, May 9. The recent continuous rain left the Riccarton tracks in a sloppy state and a grass track for galloping was not available today. One will probably be open tomorrow for horses to race at Ashburton on Saturday. Studley Royal was given a schooling task over four hurdles. He ran off at the second, but cleared it at the second attempt and completed the circuit with a dashing effort. Far East jumped three hurdles well and Monastic followed over the same fences. The latter has been hacked about for some time, but is still carrying a lot of condition. Lord Lynn has rejoined F. D. Jones’s active team and a Foxbridge-Drama yearling filly bought by Mr. J. R. McKenzie at Trentham for 400 quineas, will shortly be taken over by Mr. Jones.
