Yesterday’s Reports

Wellington.—Overcast and raw in the morning, with steady rain between 10 a.m. and 1 P.m. The afternoon was fine, the sky clearing by evening. A light westerly breeze blew in the morning, but fell away in the afternoon. The minimum temperature on Tuesday night was 45.7 degrees and the maximum yesterday was 50.9 degrees. At 6 p.m. yesterday the temperature was 47 degrees and the pressure was 996 millibars. Palmerston North. —Bright sunshine alternating wjth periods of cloudiness, which increased during the afternoon. Light south-east breeze.

New Plymouth.—Fair to fine and with a cold south-easterly wind. Barometer at 5 p.m. 1009 millibars.

Waipukurau.—A beautiful sunny day, with a maximum temperature of 56 degrees. Barometer reading 995.6 millibars.

Masterton. —Overcast in the morning, but fine and clear in the afternoon. Temperatures were cool after a frost of 3.u degrees, and there was a light easterly breeze.

Auckland.—Dull with showers and a moderate northerly wind. Barometric pressure had a falling tendency, the 5 p.m. reading being 994 millibars. Christchurch. —A strong south-west wind prevailed, with passing showers. Maximum temperature, 52.4 degrees. The barometer was low and steady, registering 996 millibars at 5 p.m. Dunedin. —Misty rain fell in Dunedin, but conditions were less unpleasant than earlier in the w’eek. A variable breeze, mainly from the south, cleared the mist for brief intervals, but rain was incessant on higher levels. Temperatures were cool, the maximum being 51 degrees aud the barometer fell to 1006 millibars.

Napier and Hastings.—Fine but. cold following a 4Ldegree frost. Westerly wind.

Wanganui.—Fine, with sunshine and a light variable breeze._ Sea a moderate swell. Barometer 995.6 millibars.
