Disagreement with the decision of the Palmerston North City Council to declare King Street u one-way street was expressed a I a meeting of the Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce. It was decided to ask tile council to reconsider its decision. The chairman, Mr. 11. L. Cuntiinghauie, said if restriction were placed on parking, the position would be considerably eased; alternatively, the width of tli<» footpath on each side might be reduced by two feet, which would give an increased roadway of four feel. Mr. H. E. Townshend; who supported the chairman, .--aid the congestion in King Street was not so bad as had been represented. The city was in a transition stage, and be thought the restriction nn necessary.
