In claiming, damages for injuries it is usual for. plaintiffs to include a sum for disfigurement, and such a claim was made in a case in the Supreme Court, Wellington, ’ yesterday, by a worker who had lost a linger in an accident. . 1 Mr. Justice ;Ostler, in summing up, said that it 'was understandable that a woman might have a claim for disfigurement, but he doubted if it meant much to a man. “Iff a case, in 'this Court not so loug ago,” said his Honour, "a brother judge of mine, who was by no means an oil painting, though he was quite as good looking as I am, told a plaintiff that, even with a scar on his face, lie was much better looking than was he (the judge), who had not found the face he had had to carry through life any great handicap to him.” “You might take that into consideration,” was Mr. Justice Ostler’s final word to the jury.
