Headmaster Farewelled In Pukekawa A social evening was held in the Pukekawa Hall recently, when residents gathered to say farewell to Mr. A. 11. Friar-Raisher, headmaster of the Pukekawa School, who is leaving to take charge of the school in Silverstream. Parents and friends were present from Pukekohe, Tuakau, Onewhero and Opuatiu, and the hall was packed. Items were given by the school children and local artists. The chairman of the school committee spoke of the great improvement in the school since Mr. Friar-Raisher took over six years ago, and also of the splendid concerts he had organized. On behalf of the residents, the chairman presented Mr. Friar-Raisher with a canteen of cutlery and a ease of lish knives and forks. The children of the school gave him a silver fruitdish, and the old pupils a silver cigarette case. The parents of the Maori children attending the school made several Individual presentations, including a Maori mat. The Franklin Returned Soldiers’ Association made him a gift of a ease of silver soup spoons. >.
