Meeting Of Executive

COMMITTEES APPOINTED The executive of the New Zealand Rugby Union, at a meeting in Wellington last night, appointed the following standing committees for the year:— Finance: Messrs. S. S. Dean, A. C. Kitto, J. G. J. Prenrleville. ' Appointments Board : Messrs. Roache, Kitto, and one from the New Zealand Rugby Referees’ Association. Reinstatements. Messrs. Dean, J. 11. Parker, C. L. Mullaney, and Prendeville. ~ Referees’ Rulings: Messrs. McDonald, Mullaney, and Kitto. The chairman, Mr. Dean, welcomed Mr. Mullaney back to the committee. Mr. Mullaney said it was about 12 years since he had occupied a seat on the committee, but in the meantime he had kept in close touch with the management committees of. country football in Taranaki, Wanganui, and Taihape. He hoped the knowledge he had thus gained would be of service to the executive. Universities’ Matches. The council of the New Zealand Universities’ Rugby Union wrote, requesting permission to play the North Island v. South Island Universities’ match ■ at Auckland on June 1, and a match between the New Zealand Universities’ team and either the Auckland representative team or a combined team from the Army, Navy and Air Force at Auckland, on It was decided to reply that the New Zealand Union had no objection to the New Zealand Universities’ Union playing the interisland Varsity match . at Auckland on June 1, or a match against the Auckland representative team on June 3, but that the question of playing matches against Army, Navy and Air Force teams would be held over till tne matter of matches against Army teams generally had been considered. Messrs. S. S. Dean, A. C. Kitto and E. Wylie were appointed to represent the union on the Olympic and British Empire Games Association.
