MONDAY’S WRESTLING
+ Wellington wrestling enthusiasts have been well served this season, and another excellent attraction will be staged in the Town Hall, Wellington, on Monday night, when Earl McCready, fresh from new triumphs overseas, will make his first Wellington appearance of his fourth season in New Zealand. McCready will meet Joe Corbett, the handsome Bostonian, who created an excellent impression when he opened the 1940 season in Wellington against Baines. While he was in the United States during the off season, McCready made further attempts to win the world title, which many followers of the sport have been inclined to credit to him because of his outstanding performances. Though he made every inducement to Jim Lendos to get Londos to meet him, offering a guarantee of 1000 dollars and a side wager of 600 dollars, Loudos would not enter the ring. McCready completely recovered some mouths ago from the arm injury which affected his displays in this country toward the end of last season, and the form he showed in America before leaving on his present trip was right up to his best.
Corbett, who is almost the same size as McCready, has all the attributes, both in physique and in skill, to cause the Canadian a lot of trouble. Corbett is noted as a scientific matman, and he should have a better chance to display bis art than in his previous match. There will be high-class preliminary bouts.
