WAGONS DERAILED
Suburban Rail Service Dislocated Early sntourlban passenger services ibetween Wellington and Upper Hutt yesterday were delayed: because of the derailment of two wagons attached to a southbound freight train. The mishap occurred at about 2 a.m. on the AVellington side of Siiverstream. AVhilc the train services were dislocated passengers were transported to and from AVellington by railway buses, A box wagon loaded with cheese completely left; the rails, and the wagon behind it was partially derailed. It is thought that the shifting of the cheese load may have helped to derail the first wagon. The derailment caused damage to the department’s power lines and interrupted communications. Railway buses brought in (lie 6.28, 6.51, 7.25. and 7.53 early train passengers from Upper Hutt and intermediate stations. The first train to leave Upper Hutt was Hint: limed to depart at 5.42, but. it was delayed in starting. Buses also dealt witli the 7.6 Upper Hutt train passengers from AVellington. The first train to leave Wellington for Upper Hutt was the Mnsterton passenger train at 7.50. Minor delays were experienced by the passengers in the Lower Hutt-Wellington suburban area.
